The Situation:
-You are teaching in a one-computer classroom with 30 fifth grade students

WE HAVE:
-software on our computer (this includes Microsoft Office, Movie Maker, and Internet Explorer)
-Internet access and a printer
-Web cam attached to our computer
WE DON'T HAVE:
-LCD projector or screen
-A computer lab in the building
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
-All classrooms in the school have the same technology available

Our Plan:
  • With there being only 1 computer available in a class of 30 students, the amount of time it would take for each group to do any online researching would be inefficient. In order to best utilize our time, we will print off the appropriate information from "FEMA Kids" and hand them out to each group.
  • The class computer will be available for any student that needs access to the Student Dictionary.
  • Further, the students will be given additional handouts (typed and printed off on Microsoft word by us), which will provide them with a description of each expert (the experts include: Meteorologists, Tornado Safety Engineers, and Tornado Historians) along with questions related to their expertise.
  • Each team of experts will create a news broadcast that will be recorded on the classroom webcam.
